Last week we had the coldest opening ever: Cruyff Court Hammarkullen in Sweden! It's the second Cruyff Court in Sweden and is located in Hammarkullen, a poor neighboorhood in Gothenburg.
The second Cruyff Court in Sweden has been opened! Together with IFK Göteborg in the Community we aim to create space for kids who live in the poor suburbs of Gothenborg. This Cruyff Court was build in the community of Hammarkullen next to the Hammarkullsskolan, a large primary school. Our goal is to create a hub for the development of the young talent that is present here.
“Someone once said that: football is not a matter of life or death – it is more important than that. A funny quote that a lot of football fans around the world might agree on. I am one of those, but is only through the work that football effects that the statement get its true meaning” says Poya Asbaghi, Head Coach IFK Göteborg to the visitors during the opening ceremony of the second Cruyff Court in Gothenburg.
In August of 2018 the Cruyff Foundation already trained a number of coaches from the community as Cruyff Foundation Coach. These coaches can now put their acquired skills into practice and start working with the young people on the Cruyff Court and create the new Heroes in the community.
